@yasminm21033 years ago I find chopping lots of veggies strangely therapeutic - especially if I have a show on in the background. It keeps my mind busy and is great if I am having an anxious day! 2902

@alizalibertylim42513 years ago The floaties are called “impurities”... definitely wouldn’t want any of that in the soup 😂 Love you Lisa ❤️ 967

@heyitsjustme.6803 years ago You should get a mandolin! It's cuts the veggie slicing time in half! Seriously, best $20 I've ever spent. And everything is the same size! 823

@Cardiisshook3 years ago The way this was a “random” soup and looks gourmet 😭 109

@Chrissmth3 years ago I never find cooking in silence boring. To me it’s like active meditation and therapy. Cooking gives me time to think. It’s also a learning process and I enjoy it a lot. Time away from all the noise just to focus on making a solid meal is the best part of the day for me. ... 56

@thegr8brandino9693 years ago Something I tend to use when I just really don't feel like chopping veggies is a mandolin. It makes the process go by so much faster. There are a bunch with hand guards and swappable blades so you can get a variety of cuts. Give it a try! ... 135

@samcresp54403 years ago I appreciate the downtime when doing food prep. I can chill, think and not feel too overwhelmed by boredom or my thoughts because I’m still also actively focusing on prepping. I also take it as a chance to continue to improve my knife skills. Occasionally I will have podcasts or documentaries on too while I work. ... 12

@rachelallison66513 years ago This is what I call Hodge-Podge or Leftovers Soup! My mom made it all the time growing up and I make it now. Always a little mystery how it'all turn out, almost always a great experience! 🤣 25

@_sadcastic_3 years ago The lotus root is really common here in Pakistan and in my language (sindhi), we call it "Beh". Elders love it and there's a whole lotta dish we make out of it and also add it in other curries and recipes. 5

@Quondryth3 years ago You should try getting a sear on those thighs before putting in the broth, it will impart the delicious flavors of the rendered fat and the caramelized sugars from the maillard reaction. 15

@ck81913 years ago I watch YouTube videos while cooking dinner. I just made vegetable soup so I watched a lot of shorts while chopping :) 2

@abigail-mh2no3 years ago Hey Lisa. Day 4 of recommending Marie Sharps. It’s a delicious hot sauce from Belize (one of my mother countries). It’s not extremely mega spicy, but it has a major kick and tastes so good! Please try it! 4

@shakflak36513 years ago The foam from the soup is called scum. It usually comes up from the bones when making a stock. It good to removing because it cleans out the soup and make it look better so it doesnt gray up your soup. 7

@101falcon3 years ago When I'm doing it willingly chopping and peeling can be so relaxing and stabilizing. I usually have a youtube podcast or lofi on Spotify playing in the background just to have something as constant low level entertainment that doesn't require too much concentration. Since it's so rhythmic it's like you go into a transcript and the only thing you need to focus on is not chopping your fingers so it's a nice break for the brain. ... 1

@xxxroseyxxx13 years ago I enjoy the prep and cutting stuff. It’s very therapeutic. That’s why I enjoy the process of cooking, I find focusing on it calms me down and helps with anxiety. I usually put a cooking show on. Maybe that might you be less bored if you have some shoes or YouTube cooking clips that you enjoy in the background. ...

  • @
@m4gicalgamer9903 years ago Note to people thinking this is vegetarian or vegan its not, molecules from the chicken disintegrate so the broth gets that flavor, but just because it is out of the broth doesn't mean its vegan or vegetarian. 1

@randomstranger52293 years ago Heyhey! Just for a lil mote flavor in the good soup*, i suggest first baking off the onions till slightly charred (nOT BURNT!), then, in the pot, fry off some of the whites of the green onion with some of the other aromatics. Thats just what *i personally do, i hope you give it a shot on your own time :) ...
