Novice fettles a Squier VM Thinline Telecaster - Ep 1 Wilkinson WTB bridge and locking tuners

Published 14 Jul 2020

This is a series of videos following my novice exploration into the dark arts of guitar setup and improvement. A Squier Vintage Modified telecaster is a good basic platform for any learner and even intermediate player but can a novice carry out the necessary work to make it even better? I bloody hope so or i've just thrown me wedge away :D Products that may appear in this series were purchased by me and I'm in no way associated with the companies supplying them. In this episode I start the process by replacing the incredibly suspect Squier 6 barrel saddle bridge. What a disgrace that thing is!!! How many good guitars did Squier spoil by fitting these??? The clear leading choice for a guitar of this style and value was the Wilkinson WTB ashtray bridge. 3x2 brass barrel saddles with some compensation built in. Does £20 get you a good 'vintage modified' replacement bridge for a Vintage Modified thinline? I also fit a set of North West Guitars own brand of locking tuners. I was getting the bridge from them, saw these and couldn't resist. Does £30 by you a good useable set of locking tuners? Answers to these questions and many many more......:D Links to the products used: https://www.northwestguitars.co.uk/wtb-telecaster-ash-tray-bridge-compensated-saddles/ https://www.northwestguitars.co.uk/jn-05l-locking-tuners-6-in-line-for-right-handed-guitars/
