@pushfighter9 months ago In Marvel Feature #1 (which is Red Sonja's first solo book), there is a written letter by Roy Thomas near the beginning of the book where he blatantly states that the 1st app of Red Sonja is Conan #23 and her 2nd app is Conan #24. @capnyoda9 months ago As I think I saw in other comments, much of the hubbub on Conan #24 is about the fact that it's one of the best single issues of the 70s. It's weird that it was ever called the first appearance of Sonja. It's just an amazing single issue with Barry Windsor-Smith showing absolute mastery of his craft. ... 4

@seadogswork9 months ago When Conan issues # 23 and # 24 came out, there was quite a lot of excitement about # 24, especially. There's nothing really awful about Gil Kane's cover art for issue # 23, but I'll bet most collectors prefer Barry Smith's cover work for # 24, even today. It was also a source of excitement at the time that the interior pages to # 24 had been colored by Smith, and nicely so. Issue # 24 was the last issue Smith illustrated for the title (was announced at that time), and by then he had developed quite a following. So at that time # 24 was the book beloved in fandom as being something special. But then, at that time, it wasn't really about the technical definition of Red Sonja's "first appearance," but rather about Smith's tour de force work on the book. Red Sonja resonated, though, landing a couple of series of her own not long after. ... 2

@seanwelch719 months ago Star Wars #1 came out before the film was in cinemas, and is almost fifty years old. It sold a ton, but was much read as well.

Also waiting for my Wolverine Ltd #1 Newsstand triple signed (Miller, Claremont and Orzechowski) 9.8 to come back. Happy to see prices going up. ...

@hulk181man9 months ago I've tracked our ebay sales for years with a coworker. Sales slow down over the summer months, simple as that. Happens every year. Best time to buy...riskiest time to sell.

@speccollector97409 months ago ASM 365 will always be 2099's 1st app and pricewise, only the Toybiz 2099 #1 will beat its price. It consistently sells for around $200 where 2099 #1 direct bounces from $125-180.
I've been trying to sell 2 9.8s fir $185 and under for almost 6 months and they won't sell. Meanwhile, I've sold 3 ASM 365s for $195 and over in the same timeframe ...

@johnnydropkicks9 months ago I’d much rather have an ASM 365 in a CGC 9.8 because it’s a much tougher book to get in that grade due to it’s size and the black cover.

@CadetBoneSpurs9 months ago I’m betting heavy on the UF4 2nd print cuz it’s such a full face Miles as the cover…my gut tells me it will gain way more than the first print will once live action hits…and if the live action actor looks a whole lot like the comic book character…a full face cover as his first appearance will jump even as the 2nd print IMHO ...
