It is the largest island in the state and we have a very full day planned to hit a lot of the highlights. We start out with Deception Pass State Park which is one of 6 state parks on the island and is around 4,000 acres. There are a bunch of hiking trails The trail follows along beaches and cliffs, and offers awesome views of the Deception Pass Bridge. The bridge is actually one of the most photographed spots in all of Washington. It spans around 1,500 feet and connects the north side of Whidbey Island with the mainland. The top things to do on Whidbey Island. The trail ascends from the parking lot and climbs along a ridge with amazing views of the beach below. At the halfway point, we drop down to the beach and make our way back along the shore. Deception pass state park -------------------------------------------- The bridge at Deception Pass, between Whidbey Island and Fidalgo Islands. It got its name from Captain George Vancouver, who felt deceived by the width of the waterway. Deception Pass Bridge and Beach Trail is a 1 mile heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Oak Harbor, Washington that features beautiful wild flowers and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and bird watching and is accessible year-round. Deception Pass is a strait separating Whidbey Island from Fidalgo Island, in the northwest part of the U.S. state of Washington. It connects Skagit Bay, part of Puget Sound, with the Strait of Juan de Fuca. A pair of bridges known collectively as Deception Pass Bridge cross Deception Pass.
