Knot tying video tutorial. Learn how to make a Farimond Friction Hitch. Easy step by step instructions in this guide. This one is a relatively new knot first presented in 2008 by Barry Farimond. Being a friction hitch it is a slide and grip knot, similar to other friction hitches used in climbing. However due to its exploding nature it should not be used for critical purposes. Uses: Used for tensioning clothes lines, ridge lines for tarps or guy lines for tents in camping or survival situations. Advantages: Easy to tie. Very quick to untie. Disadvantages: Could possibly accidentally come undone.
